Book Project Summer Update
I am very excited to announce that Tatreez & Tea: Embroidery and Storytelling in the Palestinian Diaspora will be available for pre-order on Amazon by September 1, 2016!
The process for writing this book has been an incredible experience, from the abundant support of donors and friends, to seeing myself reach new heights in my writing and photography. For those that donated $50 or more to the original Indiegogo campaign that kicked off this project, please do not pre-order the book on Amazon when it comes out. I will send you a free download code when the book launches in November, so that you will be the first to receive a final copy of the book.
This summer, I’ve made great strides to finalizing the manuscript. All written content for the book is finalized, and is in editing at this time.
In my last research trip to Portland in July/August, I completed two photoshoots with my incredibly committed and talented friend, Andrea Leake. She has been crucial in the success of my photoshoots, and I hope she in someway pursues a future in photography and styling — her eye to detail is on point, and I am so proud of the work we’ve done together.
My sister, Safa Ghnaim, is a trained editor, and has been through almost three rounds or more of edits with the manuscript. The time she has invested in this book is something I will always be grateful for.
For readers living in Oregon or New York, I’ve set two reading series events. I hope you can join us. Since this is a self published book, I am spending personal funds and taking time off of my day job to conduct these events. I hope you can join us, and can come support the book. You don’t need to attend all events in the series, feel free to come to one or to all!
At this time, I am finalizing photography as the manuscript is being reviewed and edited. It will likely take me one month to get through the photography and scanned patterns, and then, off to the digital publisher the book will go!
PS. To receive exclusive updates on the book on a week-to-week basis (and photographs from the book), follow me on Instagram @tatreezandtea and on the book website http://www.tatreezandtea.com!
